Istinye University's '100 Ex-libris Exhibition in the 100th Year'

Istinye University is organizing a special event for art enthusiasts to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Türkiye.

The "100 Ex-libris Exhibition in the 100th Year," which will take place on Friday, October 27, 2023, at 3:30 PM at Istinye University's Vadi (H) Campus, invites everyone who appreciates a special touch to their books. The exhibition will open on October 27, 2023, at 3:30 PM and will be open to art enthusiasts until November 12.

Istinye University is celebrating the importance of art and culture by organizing events, marking the 100th year of our beloved Republic with great enthusiasm. The "100 Ex-libris Exhibition in the 100th Year" offers an opportunity to celebrate the significance of this important year and our respect and also commitment to art.

Ex-libris, small printed images on which names and various thematic pictures are featured, are attached to the inner cover of books by book enthusiasts. Also known as the calling card of the book, ex-libris introduces the book owner, honors them, and encourages those who borrow the book to return it.

This special exhibition brings together original works of master artists from the Istanbul Ex-Libris Museum collection at the international level. The exhibition is curated by Prof. Dr. Hasip Pektaş, faculty member of the Department of Visual Communication Design and Director of the Istanbul Ex-Libris Museum.

Prof. Dr. Hasip Pektaş, whose opinions we wanted to obtain before the exhibition, expressed his belief that the exhibition, featuring the works of numerous national and international artists, would contribute to the recognition and popularization of ex-libris, increase interest in books and art. He also emphasized that this exhibition is an expression of respect and gratitude to the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and the values of the Republic he founded, as indicated by his statement: "A nation devoid of art and artists means that one of the vital arteries of life has been severed."

We invite all art enthusiasts and book lovers who want to explore the captivating world of ex-libris art and visit this art and culture-filled exhibition.
