Guided by science and contributing to universal knowledge without compromising on ethical values, İstinye University Faculty of Medicine celebrated March 14th Medical Day with great enthusiasm.
The first-year students of the Faculty of Medicine took their first steps into the medical profession by wearing their white coats in a meaningful ceremony held at the Vadi Campus. The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Türker Kılıç, gave an opening speech emphasizing the significance of the day. In his speech, he pointed out that March 14th Medical Day is celebrated only in Turkey, and he explained the history of this special day and the importance of the white coat in the medical profession.

In his speech at the ceremony, which was attended by vice deans, academics, and student parents, Prof. Dr. Türker Kılıç emphasized that medicine is not limited to providing healthcare. He said:
"Being a medical student doesn't just mean being responsible for health. It also means fighting ignorance and, if necessary, being the first to stand against any form of invasion." He also stated that medicine is more than just a profession; it is a science, ethics, and a way of life dedicated to humanity. "As the Faculty of Medicine at İstinye University, we are proud to raise doctors who will shape the future of the healthcare field," he added.
Before the white coat ceremony, Rıdvan Gölcük, the Director of the Çanakkale Troy Museum, gave an inspiring speech to the students, sharing important insights for their future visions. During the conference, significant information was shared about the historical development of medical science, the roots of medicine in Anatolia, and the future of modern medicine. Through this conference, students had the opportunity to evaluate their profession from a broader perspective.
The white coat, a symbol of great responsibility
One of the most special moments of the ceremony was when the students had their white coats put on by the faculty members of the Faculty of Medicine.
