Dr. Lim's research focuses on using the immune system to fight cancer. He is actively involved in shaping neurosurgery and oncology education in the United States and worldwide. In his laboratory work, he has studied the immune evasion mechanisms of cancer cells and successfully transferred his findings from the laboratory to clinical settings. He has conducted and managed large-scale national immunotherapy trials for brain tumor treatment. Dr. Lim has published over 300 articles on topics such as immunotherapy for glioblastoma, long-term survival of glioma patients treated with stereotactic radiation, and neuropathic pain treatment. His work has been featured in prestigious journals such as Science Translational Medicine, Clinical Cancer Research, Lancet Oncology, Nature Immunology, and many others. He has also authored 20 book chapters and monographs.
Dr. Lim is a global leader in immunotherapy for brain tumors. He has been invited to conferences and seminars worldwide to speak on immunotherapy for brain tumors, neurosurgical techniques, and brain tumor management, and has presented at various meetings including those of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Radiological Society of North America, the Annual Brain and Spine Metastases Symposium, and the Neurosurgery Congress. During his time at Johns Hopkins, Dr. Lim established one of the largest brain tumor and trigeminal neuralgia clinics and used the most advanced surgical technologies and techniques for his patients.
As a mentor, Dr. Lim has been honored as an outstanding teacher by Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and has received numerous teaching awards. He is the recipient of the prestigious 2023 Abhijit Guha Award in Neuro-Oncology. He has served as the platform chair for the CNS session at the American Society of Clinical Oncology conference and has been involved in the executive committees of several associations and congresses in the fields of Neurology and Oncology.
