Green Steps for the Future from İstinye University: Semanur Torba Represented the University at the Climate Ambassadors Training Camp

Semanur Torba, a student of the Department of International Relations and İstinye University Climate Ambassador, successfully represented the university by participating in the Climate Ambassadors Training Camp organized by the Directorate of Climate Change in Antalya from February 9-12, 2025.

Raising Awareness in the Fight Against Climate Change

The camp aimed to increase young people's awareness of climate change and encourage them to take an active role in this area. During the camp, Semanur Torba participated in various training programs and panels. The program also included Vice President of the Directorate of Climate Change, Orhan Solak, UNICEF Turkey ADAP Expert Chizuru Iwata, SANKO Holding Sustainability Department Head Enise Ademoğlu Matbay, and climate ambassadors selected from universities across Turkey.

Important Initiatives Planned for Sustainability

İstinye University Climate Ambassador Semanur Torba made suggestions for climate awareness events to be held across the campus, in collaboration with the university’s International Sustainability Application and Research Center, aiming to integrate her experiences from the camp into sustainability efforts at the university.

New Projects Aimed at Student-Centered Sustainability Work

Semanur Torba emphasized that her projects under the Leader Student Program focus on student-centered sustainability initiatives. She stated, “Under the Leader Student Program, I aim to develop projects focusing on green campus practices and prioritize student-centered activities to strengthen the İstinye University Climate Ambassadors Network,” sharing her plans for the future.

İstinye University continues to support students' active roles in combating climate change. Sustainability-focused projects that prioritize social contribution are among the university's main goals. Projects such as the Climate Ambassadors Network and Leader Student Program, along with other initiatives that support social responsibility and productivity, aim to develop solutions to the climate crisis and make lasting contributions to long-term sustainability.
