From December 10-12, İstinye University is hosting the 7th International Conference on the Education of the Future. The conference, held both face-to-face and online via webinar at the Vadi Main Campus Conference Center, brings together renowned scientists and UNESCO officials. The event targets a radical transformation in global higher education through the updating of curricula and pedagogical approaches to ensure world-class, socially-oriented, and accessible education. The primary focus of the conference was stated as making quality education accessible to all, achieving SDG4 (quality education for all), and using artificial intelligence to support the other 16 Sustainable Development Goals. With its interdisciplinary content, the conference serves as an important catalyst for the evolution of global higher education by providing a personalized distribution system in formal education.
Global Transformation in Higher Education and Research
The conference, which began on December 10 with the session “Challenges and Opportunities in Global Higher Education,” opened with a speech by Prof. Dr. Türker Kılıç, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at İstinye University, who emphasized the importance of developing new education systems with the awareness that the fundamental element of life is not atoms but information. In their speeches, Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş, Rector of İstinye University, and Garry Jacobs, President of the World Academy of Art and Science, shared the goals of the conference. Throughout the three-day event, various sessions will feature contributions from leading figures, highlighting the urgent need for a global education system that can address the societal challenges humanity faces today. The conference also explores the potential for developing world-class, affordable, learner-centered, and self-paced higher education for both pre-career and lifelong learning. Quoting Albert Einstein, the founding member of the World Academy of Art and Science, who said, "We cannot solve problems with the same thinking we used when we created them," Prof. Dr. Kılıç emphasized that societal development requires a global transformation in education systems.
Three-Day Conference with Participation from Renowned Scientists, UNESCO, and UN Members
During the three-day event, participants from Turkey and various regions around the world will share insights in different sessions. The “Education for Women Leaders” session will explore solutions to the challenges women face in leadership positions in workplaces, communities, and globally, and the types of education needed to promote the development of promising female leaders. The “Foresight and Future Vision Education” session will discuss ways to help students gain the capacity to predict and prepare for the future more realistically. In the “World University Concept” session, academics defined by the World Academy of Art and Science will discuss the global education system continuing with joint international programs. The session “Artificial Intelligence, Virtual and Augmented Reality Learning Systems” will explain what can be done at Arizona State University to complement and enhance traditional learning methods using Virtual and Augmented Reality.
Closing Session of the Education of the Future Conference on December 12
The closing session of the conference, titled “Vision of the Education of the Future,” will take place on December 12. Educators, researchers, policymakers, and thought leaders will decide on models for accessible and affordable, high-quality higher education for everyone. Steps to address the challenges humanity faces more effectively and establish a new paradigm in global higher education will be taken in this session.
