With the "Together for the Future in the 10th Year" meeting, İstinye University assessed its progress from the past to the present and designed its future. The meeting took place with the participation of esteemed executives, academics, and students from İstinye University and the MLPCARE Group. During the event, Dr. Muharrem Usta, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, shared insights on our future vision. While reflecting on the achievements of the past decade, the meeting, attended by the entire İstinye University team along with MLP Group senior management, also focused on the University's vision for the future.
The meeting began with a moment of silence for the Great Leader Atatürk and our martyrs, followed by the National Anthem. Then, Prof. Dr. Tofigh Allahviranloo, a faculty member from the Software Engineering Department of the Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences, performed traditional pieces in a piano recital.
The meeting commenced with an opening speech and valuable insights from Rector Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş, followed by a presentation on the University’s Third Five-Year Action Plan by Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Hatice Gülen. Subsequently, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Muharrem Usta, reflected on İstinye University’s 10-year journey, sharing its progress from past to present and outlining its future vision. Following Dr. Usta’s speech, Prof. Dr. Oğuz Babüroğlu provided valuable insights on societal contribution and the role of universities.
"We Are Strengthening the New Generation University Concept and Carrying It into the Future"
In his speech, Rector Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş discussed the concept of the "New Generation University," stating, "The concept of the New Generation University today encompasses creativity, entrepreneurship, innovation, data and technology orientation, application-based learning, and governance. İstinye University continues its development by adhering to these principles." He highlighted that the British academic John Henry Newman first introduced the concept of the New Generation University in a university book in the 1860s, a century and a half ago, and elaborated on key aspects of this idea. Emphasizing İstinye University's innovative and forward-thinking structure, Prof. Dr. İbiş added, "Concepts prioritizing development, such as continuous change, investment in excellence, professionalism, collaboration, efficiency, and system-based governance, have only entered (Turkey’s) agenda in the last quarter-century. We continue to strengthen the New Generation University approach under today’s conditions and carry it into the future."
"We Are Among the Universities Producing the Most Student Projects Among All Foundation Universities"
Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Hatice Gülen shared the University's Third Five-Year Action Plan, stating, "Over the years, our university has shown a significant increase in projects. We are among the foundation universities that produce the highest number of student projects. We successfully achieved all of our Second Five-Year Plan goals, and for the Third Five-Year Plan, we are aiming for larger projects and industrial collaboration-based Ph.D. programs. As our Rector mentioned, all these achievements are the result of the collective effort of all our stakeholders. I strongly believe that we will continue to reach even greater goals together."

Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Muharrem Usta, emphasized the university’s ambitious goals, stating, "We have a five-year target ahead of us, and failure is not an option. This journey paves the way for building a globally respected university. İstinye University will continue to be a respected, knowledgeable, and value-creating institution contributing to society." He further highlighted the significance of İstinye University, stating, "İstinye University will be the umbrella brand that elevates MLP CARE and all our hospitals. Our graduates will one day tell their children about this university’s journey of success."
