İstinye University, in line with its goal of strengthening global academic partnerships, hosted a delegation from the Moscow National Research Nuclear University (MEPhI). During the visit, significant steps were taken towards developing joint academic programs, establishing student and faculty exchange programs, and collaborating on scientific research initiatives between the two universities.
The delegation, led by the Head of the International Office of MEPhI, was welcomed by the International Office team of İstinye University and participated in a campus tour. Following this, a meeting was held with Prof. Dr. Serkant Ali Çetin, the Head of the Department of Basic Sciences at İstinye University, where the MEPhI representatives gave a comprehensive presentation introducing their university’s academic structure, research centers, and their position in international rankings. During the discussions, topics such as scholarship opportunities for İstinye University students, joint educational programs, and sectoral collaborations were evaluated.

Prof. Dr. Serkant Ali Çetin emphasized that the visit marked an important step in the collaboration between the two universities, stating:
"As İstinye University, we place great importance on building strong global partnerships in the fields of science and technology. Collaborations with a well-established and research-focused university like MEPhI will provide new opportunities for our students and faculty. Particularly in critical fields such as engineering, nuclear energy, and artificial intelligence, we aim to enhance knowledge sharing and train competitive graduates on an international level."
Joint academic and vocational programs to be developed
The meeting also addressed the creation of joint academic and vocational programs, increasing student and faculty exchange opportunities, and strengthening language and education cooperation between the two countries. The delegation provided information on MEPhI’s plans to open a campus in Alexandria, Egypt, and the need for technical personnel for the nuclear power plant under construction in Sinop, Turkey. In this context, the development of technical workforce training programs for vocational schools was suggested.
Student exchange programs, internship opportunities, and sectoral collaborations planned
During the visit, discussions were held regarding the opportunities for MEPhI students to intern at İstinye University hospitals, creating language programs aimed at developing technical communication skills, and sectoral collaborations. Additionally, it was evaluated to offer Turkish language courses for Russian citizens working in Turkey and Russian language courses for Turkish professionals working in Russia, both online and in-person.
Collaboration protocol to be signed
After the discussions, both parties agreed to sign a Bilateral Cooperation Protocol (MoU). It was decided that the details of the collaboration would be discussed during the visit of the MEPhI Vice Rector to Istanbul, and concrete steps would be taken.
İstinye University continues its efforts to expand global academic collaborations and undertake pioneering international projects. In this regard, the university is establishing strategic partnerships with prestigious universities and research institutions worldwide to offer international education, research, and career opportunities to its students and faculty. Strengthening scientific research in various disciplines, increasing student and faculty exchange programs, and expanding sectoral collaborations are among the key focal points.

The discussions with MEPhI are part of İstinye University’s vision to enhance its global engagement in critical areas such as engineering, artificial intelligence, nuclear energy, and health sciences.
