Istinye University’s seventh Academic Year Opening Ceremony was held on Monday, October 3, 2022, at Istinye University’s Topkapı Campus. Prof. Dr. Erkan Ibiş, the Rector of Istinye University, presided. In attendance were Prof. Dr. Sezer Komsuoğlu, the executive member of the unit CoHE Women’s Studies in Academia and the former Rector of Kocaeli University; and the academicians of Istinye University.
In his address, Prof. Dr. Erkan İbiş welcomed attendees to the 2022-2023 academic year. He discussed the goals of Istinye University, remarking “We continue to work with you today with perseverance and determination, as we have since the foundation of our university, to take our university further and to contribute to the welfare of society, the future of our country and the world. One of Türkiye’s youngest universities, we derive our strength from our commitment to science and our deep history, rich values and culture.”
Prof. Dr. Sezer Komsuoğlu delivered the opening lecture of the University’s seventh academic year. Her presentation, "Higher Education Vision Towards 2030s," emphasized the success of female academicians and the importance of world development. The ceremony continued with Dilara Bahçeci's speech on behalf of the Student Council, followed by a violin recital by Aysun Önal, a 2022 English Language and Literature graduate of Istinye University.
The ceremony concluded with awards to academicians for excellence in Istinye University “Istinye Family that Made a Difference” initiative between September 2021 and August 2022. The individuals were recognized for projects and works in their fields that have contributed to establishing Istinye University’s productive atmosphere.
