ISU Participates in Mimkent Social Space Project in Collaboration with Kahramanmaraş Chamber of Architects and Architecture for All Association

Students from Istinye University (ISU) made significant contributions during the "Kahramanmaraş Mimkent Social Space Project," carried out in collaboration with Herkes İçin Mimarlık (Architecture For All) Association and Kahramanmaraş Chamber of Architects between August 7th and September 9th, 2023. The project was led by Dr. İbrahim Emre Gündoğdu from the Department of Interior Architecture and Environmental Design and lecturer architect Mehmet Sarper Takkeci from the Department of Architecture.

The project, encompassing both design and implementation phases, aimed to create a new social space in Mimkent container office area, for architects and engineers who lost their offices at 6th February earthquakes. ISU students actively contributed to the project, striving to achieve this goal. They played a significant role not only during the 2-week implementation phase in Kahramanmaraş but also during the 2-week design phase in Istanbul.

In the project, a "lower part unit" was constructed for seating, dining, and working functions, along with a "stage unit" to be used for performances, and also an open-air "amphitheater" positioned opposite the stage. The material support provided by Dulkadiroğlu Municipality was crucial in the successful realization of this valuable project.
